Badulla is a city in Sri Lanka. It is the capital of the Uva Province. The city is in a valley surrounded by the Namunukula mountain range. Badulla is 680 meters above sea level.

It is the end of the Main Line railway in Sri Lanka. It has a history and many tea plantations. There are also waterfalls. The city has an slow atmosphere.

## Key Attractions

* Dunhinda Falls: This is a 64-meter waterfall. It is 5 kilometers north of Badulla. People call it the “Smoky Falls” because of the water vapor.

* Muthiyangana Raja Maha Vihara: This is a 2,000-year- Buddhist temple. Gautama Buddha visited this temple.

* Bogoda Wooden Bridge: This bridge is 13 kilometers from Badulla. It is the all-wooden roofed bridge in the world.

*  Railway Station: This is a train station. It is the end of the train ride from Kandy and Ella.

## How to Get There

* By Train: The train from Colombo Fort, Kandy or Ella is a way to get to Badulla. The train goes over the Demodara Nine Arch Bridge.

* By Road: You can take a bus from Colombo. Drive from Ella. The drive takes less than an hour.

## Best Time to Visit

* Peak Season: December to March and July to August are the months to visit Badulla. The weather is good during these months.

* Weather: Badulla has a climate. The temperature is between 23°C to 26°C, during the day.
